Built for the Wild: The Unmatched Strength of a Tieton Cabin

In a world of temporary solutions and lightweight structures, we believe in building something more—a home that is not just placed in the wild, but is born of its strength.

Many structures today are designed for ideal conditions. They serve their purpose when the sun is shining and the weather is calm. But what happens when nature reveals its true power? A Tieton Cabin is crafted for those moments. It is built for the deep snows of the mountains, the relentless winds of the coast, and the challenges of remote landscapes. This is not just a small building; it is the product of thoughtful design and uncompromising strength.

A Foundation of Unyielding Strength

The soul of a Tieton Cabin’s resilience lies in its very bones. While many accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and modular homes rely on standard wood framing, we chose a different path. We build upon a heavy steel sub-structure, a robust foundation that provides immense strength and stability. This is the same kind of structural integrity you would find in commercial buildings, scaled for a personal sanctuary. Our building practice is a combination of steel and mass timber which creates a cabin that is, in a word, steadfast. It feels different because it is different—solid, secure, and profoundly quiet.

Engineered for Nature’s Extremes

We don’t just build our cabins to look good; we engineer them to perform flawlessly in the harshest conditions.

Imagine a winter where the snow falls for days, blanketing the landscape in a thick, heavy layer. For many structures, this is a moment of risk. Wet, heavy snow can place enormous stress on a roof, leading to concerns about structural integrity. A Tieton Cabin, however, is built for this very scenario.

Our roofs can be engineered to support a ground snow load in excess of 100 pounds per square foot. To put that in perspective, that’s the equivalent of enduring the weight of over 80 inches of dense, wet snow without breaking a sweat. This is a level of robustness that far exceeds typical residential construction and most prefabricated buildings. It means you can find refuge in your cabin during the deepest winter storms, feeling nothing but a sense of absolute security. The world outside may be wild, but inside, you are safe and sound.

Standing Firm Against the Wind

From coastal gales to mountain gusts, wind exerts a powerful force on any structure. Our cabins are designed to resist these forces with unshakable stability. The combination of a heavy steel frame and solid mass timber walls creates a building with significant heft and rigidity. This inherent strength, combined with secure foundation connections, ensures your cabin remains a place of calm and shelter, even when the wind howls. The sturdiness is something you can feel—the absence of creaks and groans, the profound stillness within the walls.

More Than an ADU: A Generational Structure

Our cabins are built to exceed building code standards, not just meet them. Our participation in Washington's Factory Assembled Structures (FAS) program requires adherence to stringent standards that often surpass those of local jurisdictions. This commitment ensures that your cabin is not only permitted with ease across state lines but is also constructed to a higher benchmark of quality and safety.
