A Tieton Cabin for Any Landscape

From the beginning, founders Jeb Thornburg and Belinda Thornburg shaped Tieton Cabin Company around a single belief: that design lives in partnership with place. Inspired by their ROOST concept—a vision for dwellings rooted in the landscape and welcoming to all—each Tieton Cabin is engineered to thrive, not just exist, in varied environments.

A Tieton Cabin is both sanctuary and solution. Built for hospitality and living, every modular assembly honors the place it inhabits while offering resilience and ease. The result is a retreat deeply connected to the land.

Built for Nature’s Extremes

Our design approach centers on anticipating the challenges of distinct climates, so your experience is seamless, whatever the weather.

The Steel & Timber Framework

At every cabin’s core sits a robust structural system—often heavy-gauge steel paired with cross-laminated timber. These materials resist moisture, pests, and seismic pressures. They don’t twist or warp, and provide a stable base in snow-bound elevations, windswept hills, or shifting soils.

This engineering flexibility lets us place cabins where others might hesitate—always with confidence.

Resilient, Low-Impact Shells

Every finish is chosen for longevity in tough environments. Standing-seam metal roofing and siding shield against rain and melting snow. The triple pane window’s reflective coatings and cladding built-in air gaps passively cool interiors in sun-soaked climates. Durable, low-maintenance materials require little upkeep and allow the cabins to settle beautifully amidst forests, mountains, or deserts.

Tailored to the Land

Our cabins intentionally respond to unique site needs, from climate to context.

For Mountains

  • Engineered for Heavy Snow Load: Structural frames exceed even the toughest alpine demands.

  • High-Performance Envelopes: Generous insulation in walls, roofs, and floors seals in warmth.

  • Efficient Assembly: Off-site construction minimizes local impact and enables rapid, precise cabin placement.

For Coasts

  • Corrosion-Proof Materials: Advanced coatings deter salt and sea-driven wear.

  • Wind Resistance: Thoughtful engineering and advanced windows make cabins hurricane-ready.

  • Smart Moisture Management: Walls breathe, shedding humidity and keeping interiors healthy.

For Deserts

  • Extended Roofs: Options for extended roof lines to provide shade, lessening reliance on air conditioning.

  • Ventilated Design: Built-in air gaps dissipate heat, keeping living spaces pleasant.

  • Flexible Window Plans: Orientation and sizing capture views while managing glare and passive heat.

Your Place, Your Story

Let us help you create a place that feels right—where a sense of belonging extends beyond walls to the wild in which you find yourself.
